Las expresiones cotidianas en inglés, conocidas como “everyday expressions” , suman una gran cantidad de frases básicas coloquiales, que se usan en el día a día. Hoy te compartimos otras 5 expresiones útiles:
1 ACCORDING TO = DE ACUERDO CON / SEGÚN
como se muestra o se dijo
According to scientists, the earth is becoming warmer.
Según científicos, la tierra se está calentando.
According to this book, elephants are endangered.
De acuerdo a este libro, los elefantes están en peligro.
According to my mother, television is bad for you.
Según mi mamá, la televisión no te hace bien.
A: Where are we?
B: According to this map we’re somewhere between Catedral Street and San Antonio Avenue.
A: ¿Dónde estamos?
B: Según este mapa estamos en algún lugar entre la calle Catedral y la avenida San Antonio.
2 AFTER ALL = DESPUÉS DE TODO / A PESAR DE TODO
a pesar de lo esperado, sin embargo, al final
The tortoise won the race after all.
A pesar de todo la tortuga ganó la carrera.
He went with them after all.
Después de todo él se fue con ellos.
The small country won the battle after all.
Al final el país pequeño ganó la batalla.
A: Who were you just talking to?
B: I thought it was someone I know from college but it wasn’t her after all.
A: ¿Con quién estabas hablando recién?
B: Pensé que era alguien que conocía de la universidad, pero al final no era ella.
3 AGAIN AND AGAIN = UNA Y OTRA VEZ

While babies learn to walk, they fall again and again.
Cuando los bebés aprenden a caminar se caen a cada rato.
I told you again and again not to touch the electric fence.
Te he dicho hasta el cansancio que no toques el cercado eléctrico.

El niño quería escuchar el mismo cuento una y otra vez.
A: This computer game is really fun!
B: I think so, too. I want to play it again and again.
A: ¡Este juego de computadora es super divertido!
B: Opino lo mismo. No me canso de jugarlo.
4 AGREE WITH = ESTAR DE ACUERDO CON

The teacher agreed with the students.
El profesor estuvo de acuerdo con los estudiantes.
Sharon agreed with her friend.
Sharon estuvo de acuerdo con su amiga.
I agree with you. There’s something strange about him.
Coincido contigo. Hay algo extraño en él.
A: Some people didn’t like the movie, but I thought it was interesting.
B: I agree with you. It was very interesting.
A: A algunas personas no les gustó la película, pero yo la encontré interesante.
B: Comparto tu opinión. Era bastante interesante.
5 ALL OF A SUDDEN = DE REPENTE
inesperadamente, repentinamente, todo al mismo tiempo, de golpe, sin previo aviso
All of a sudden, it started to rain very hard.
Repentinamente, comenzó a llover muy fuerte.
All of a sudden, the dog began to bark loudly.
De repente, el perro comenzó a ladrar fuertemente.
All of a sudden, the earth began to shake.
De repente, empezó a temblar.
A: How did you break your leg?
B: I was riding my bicycle, when all of a sudden I hit a bump and fell off.
A: ¿Cómo te fracturaste la pierna?
B: Iba andando en bicicleta cuando de la nada choqué y me caí.
